THE VILLAGE OF HOPE had its beginnings in 1989 when it was established by Christians in the
US and Ghana to care for orphaned, abandoned, destitute and needy
children until they are able to take care of themselves or are adopted
by a family. Since its establishment, they have cared and
provided help for many impoverished, hungry, and hurting children.
Some of whom have become faithful Christians!
At the moment the Village of Hope is caring for 235 children.
62 of these are living in three homes on campus under the
care of House Parents who are mature Christian couples. Owing
to the lack of accommodation, 49 more children under the care of the
Village of Hope are living with Christians in several towns/villages
throughout Ghana.
These Christians serve as foster parents to the children, but the
entire cost of caring for and educating the children is borne by the
Village of Hope. Another 120 children (70 boys and 50 girls)
are catered for by the Village of Hope through the Street Children
Program.
Most of these children had lost all hope of ever living a normal human
life... the sort of life we take for granted. The suffering
and stories of sadness each of these children have to tell would break
any heart. Through the love of Christ, a few of these
deprived children now have hope.
We rejoice when we now see smiles on the faces of those children whom
the world rejected. Under the care of the Village of Hope,
these children now have food, clothing, shelter, an education, and
medical care. In addition, they are being nurtured in the
Love of the Lord.
How You Can Help
1) Adopt an Orphan. $22.50 a month (just 75 cents per day)
will help provide food, shelter and clothing for one of the children.
2) Feed a Street Child. $.20 per meal (just 60 cents per day)
will feed one child who lives on the street.
3) Donate Your Change. The Grandville Eldership has
determined that all change collected on a weekly basis will be donated
to the Village of Hope.
4) Pray for the Children and Staff.
5) Write to the Children. They would love to have YOU as a
pen pal. Contact Fred Asare to tell him you would like to write. He will furnish you with
pertinent information to make this possible.
